Hi, I'm Elizabeth

Software Engineer & Former Technology Salesperson

I am a former technology sales and business development consultant turned software engineer. After graduating from UC Berkeley (with an English degree), I started my career in technology sales at Oracle. Although I enjoyed sales, I was especially interested in the work the product and software engineering teams were doing. My interest in their work prompted me to learn some basic coding on my own.

After spending a few months learning programming on my own, I decided to pursue Dev Bootcamp in Chicago. Dev Bootcamp was an incredibly challenging, fulfilling, and rewarding experience. After completing DBC, I started a two month software engineering apprenticeship at tastyworks. At the end of the apprenticeship, I was offered a full-time position on the team.

As a member of the tastyworks team, I was primarily responsible for planning, implementing, testing and shipping backend code for new features. Specifically, I wrote Ruby code for our Grape API (with RSPEC testing). Additionally, I was responsible for managing tastytrade.

I loved working at tastyworks and learned so much from my amazing teammates and mentors. However, I felt that there was a gap in my computer science education. So, I decided to pursue a Master's in Computer Science at the University of Chicago. I completed my degree in mid June and am now spending all my time working on my passion projects and searching for my next opportunity!
